Hello everyone,

Today we kick off the show with the latest on deadly violence at the Gaza-Egypt border. Egyptian security forces blocked several aid trucks from entering the strip of land, unleashing anger and frustration from Palestinians who began throwing stones at soldiers.

At least one Egyptian soldier was killed and several Palestinains hurt.

We will also check out social media reaction to the violence.

Also today, the very latest on how winter weather is affectin Europe and parts of Asia. Guillermo will join me to talk about airport closures and whether or not there will be a let-up in the cold snap.

We will then take you live to Yemen, where our Paula Newton will join us live for more on the government's fight against Al Qaeda operatives. The man suspected of trying to blow up an American airliner over Christmas is thought to have spent time in Yemen, which officials fear has become a working base for Al Qaeda networks.

And we are live in Dublin for more on the amazing story of a man who unwittingly carried explosives in his luggage on a flight to Ireland after Slovak airport personnel placed real bomb parts in his luggage. Irish authorities are furious at the mistake. We will bring you the lates reaction.

See you at the IDesk!

I love the cold winter weather, it is better than cold damp weather.
The cold weather also kills all the bacteria in the air.
Where are the politicians who grumble about the warming of the world.
Hopefully it still freeze several weeks.

Bye bye from Belgium.

A year ago the world watched as a mighty army destroyed a defenseless city, killing women and children.
Since then Israel refuses to let building materials to enter so they can rebuild the destroyed houses. Those poor people have no friends, no help, not enough food, no heat and no pitty from this world.

It seems Hosny Mubarak made a deal with Israel to destroy what is left of Gaza., may he pay dearly for his misguided intentions.

A. Smith, Oregon   January 10th, 2010 7:25 pm ET

If President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are able to obtain a Middle East peace treaty between the Israeli and Palestinian people with the creation of a new Palestinian State, that would certainly pay financial dividends to American taxpayers in the future.

The Republican lawmakers and their masters in the Military defense corporations will likely attempt to torpedo any and all attempts to wind down both wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and reach a successful Peace Treaty in the Middle East.

If the Obama Administration succeeds in winding down both wars and gaining a Middle East Peace Treaty, America can finally pour its money and full attention into America's dilapidated infra-structure and urgent domestic needs thru-out America.

To Ted and A.Smith
You both factually explain the situation honestly. Real politic on the ground will not permit this to happen. Unfortunately the US Congress and Senate are under the financial control of certain interest groups.
As a result Israel pretty well does what it wants. Even US Presidents are intimidated for advocating a humane solution, (See Carter and the right wing efforts against B.Obama today). The Arab nations who financially count have no interest in advancing the interest of the Palestinians( except for lip service to keep the Arab main street in check ) because they are subservient to the US special interests.
As a result many Palestinians will continue to be killed (including Iraqis, Afghans, Iranians and others in the Middle East. The silence and inaction of Europe is criminal.

Ms Fred Brun-
Muslim are killing Muslim masses.
The following data does not include additiona millions killed in massacres against world wide infidels.

Question: Why Arabs are alwayes balming others for their endless wars and social issues?
Is this a part of their culture not to take responsibility for their faults?

I hate counting death however people should know that the ccumulated number of death in inter Muslim wars since 1948 is over 14.000.000
Look at the whole region conflicts: Following a partial list:

1: Egypt invasion of Yemen
2: Syria invasions of Jordan and Lebanon
3: The Iraq Iran war
4:Iran invasion of Kuite
5: The Kurds conflicts in Turkey, Iraq,Iran
6: Cyprus to de facto partition after Turkey invasion
7: The Shuni –Shia conflict
8:Lebanon civil wars
9: Sudan civil war against the Christians and the Darfur genocide and slavery
10: Algeria civil war
11: Morocco war with Polisario
12: Libya invasion of Chad
13: Somalia civil war
14: Yemen civil war
15: Christians communities chased all over the ME.

B: **** What Arab leaders responsibility to Palestinians *****

1 \-Azm: Syrian prime minister in his memoirs
"Arab governments called in 1948 to evacuate Israel."
2: Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Said in Sir An-Nakbah
" We will smash Israel".
3: The secretary general of the Arab League, Azzam Pasha:
"Advice given to the Arabs to : LEAVE AND STAY IN NEIGHBORING STATES."
4: Billons of $ given by the West to rehabilitate Pa;estinian life;
More than any person in human history.
It has been used for Terror and hate education

M Ariel

Since you are so interested in figures. Can you tell us how many Arabs have been killed in the ME by US and Israeli economic sanctions and blockades? Please inlcude military casualties if you don't mind.

Your figures that you represent in your blog are not correct! Your reference to Iran and Iraq. Believe it or not Iranians are not Arabs.
Algeria's example is also not correct because it is as a result of the French colonial war. There are other inaccuracies.

The point you make in #4 I believe you should mention aid to Israel from the US which amounts to 3-5 Billion $ per year. Israel is a highly industrial nation receiving more aid from the US than any impoverished or other country in the World. (?) Mostly in advanced military hardware. This is used in main part to wage a genocidal war against the impoverished Palestinian population.
