Wasn't it Russia that not too long ago wouldn't hear about a UN Security Council resolution on piracy as suggested by NATO for the Indian Ocean region being targeted by east african pirates? The chickens have come home to roost...(though if you ask me I'd suggest some western government / agency is pulling strings behind the alleged pirates, probably to get Russia to align with the west on piracy on the high seas issue – though I cannot for the life of me imagine why Russia would give a hoot about a ship flying a Maltese flag. Isn't Malta a part of the E.U.? – maybe I'm just pushing the conspiracy theory boat out too far here)

No, they were not aliens. Russia said that 4 of the pirates were estonians, 2 were latvians and 2 russians. It is not official yet i guess but Estonian Foreign Minister just sent note to Russia to confirm the arrest of estonians.
